This class provides an introduction to handling and restraint of laboratory mice and covers basic techniques in both a lecture and hands-on format. All techniques are demonstrated. Class participants have the opportunity to practice their newly-acquired skills under the supervision of experienced trainers.

Topics and techniques covered include:

  • Handling and restraint
  • Health assessments
  • Subcutaneous injections (SQ)
  • Intra-peritoneal injections (IP)
  • Sub-mandibular blood collection
  • Proper micro-isolator use
  • Euthanasia/secondary methods
